Naraya is a long-established Japanese-style inn built near Yubatake, but the rooms have been renovated and offer a very comfortable stay.
All of the luxurious rooms at Senyutei have twin bedrooms and Japanese-style tatami mat rooms, and some rooms have dining rooms.
For those who wish to stay in elegance, Senyutei also has suite rooms with living room, dining room, twin bed room, Japanese-style room, and a semi-open-air bath in a hot spring.
All rooms on the Comfort Floor also have twin beds, and there are Western-style rooms with beds in the standard guest rooms.
For those who do not like to sleep on futons laid out on tatami mats, this ryokan is convenient.
The baths at Naraya are filled with hot spring water from Shirahata-source, the oldest spring in Kusatsu.
The baths at Naraya are run by “yumamori,” or “hot-spring guardians,” who have been in charge of controlling the temperature of the precious Shirahata hot spring for centuries, so you can enjoy a comfortable bathing experience.
Naraya is also known for its delicious food, such as sushi made on the spot at dinner and croissants for breakfast.
Naraya is recommended for those who want to stay in a luxurious room with a good hot spring.
Naraya offers a pick-up service from the Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal.
When you arrive at the bus terminal, call the inn and they will pick you up.
It is 300 meters from the Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal to Naraya, so it takes about 5 minutes to walk there.
If you are driving a rental car, parking is not available at the Naraya site, but in the Nishi-no-Kawara toll parking lot.
There is a driver stationed at the parking lot to pick up and drop off visitors, but he/she will not be available during pick up and drop off.
In his/her absence, you can call Naraya and they will pick you up.

We have heard that the baths at Kusatsu Onsen ryokan, where the hot spring water is discharged from the source, are too hot to take for long periods of time, but this is because the temperature of the spring source is very hot, about 50°C (122°F).
The hot spring water is also drawn to Naraya, but the hot spring water is drawn into the hot spring bathhouse on the premises to cool down.
The hot spring water is then drawn into the hot spring hut on the premises and cooled down, and the bathtub is kept at a comfortable 42°C. The temperature is checked every 2 hours by a craftsman called “yumamori,” or “bath guardian,” to ensure a comfortable bathing experience.

Naraya has two large bathhouses, one indoor and one outdoor, that are filled with hot spring water from Shirahata-no-yu, the oldest spring in Kusatsu, and the men's and women's baths are switched by the hour.
For those who do not like to bathe with others, there are three private baths that can be reserved for a fee.
There are two open-air baths and one family bath available for private use.
Reservations for private baths can be made upon check-in.
Meals during your stay at Naraya are served in one of the three private restaurants.

The location of the restaurant will be determined by the number of guests and other factors at the discretion of the inn.

word-of-mouth evaluation
Contributor A.
The food was, in any case, delicious.
The quantity and quality of the food were exquisitely balanced, and the food was a feast for the eyes as well.
The food made the most of the ingredients, yet had originality, and I was thrilled to be able to enjoy it.
The bath water was mild and the temperature was set properly for a relaxing soak.
The amenities were thoughtful and made us feel very comfortable.
Finally, the coffee from the cafe was very tasty.
Contributor B.
I was able to stay at Naraya, which I have longed to do for a long, long time.
For the first time in a long time, I was able to spend a relaxing time, which is what a trip is all about.
First of all, the inside of the hotel was clean and nice, and the room was 10 tatami mats, but it was very clean and relaxing.
The staff was wonderful from the moment we were greeted, and we were excited from the moment we entered the hotel.
The hot spring water is mellow and the best Kusatsu hot water is free-flowing, as expected from a hot-spring guardian. The atmosphere of the hot spring was also very nice and relaxing.
The food was delicious, both for dinner and breakfast, and each dish was elaborate and tasty.
I was surprised that the breakfast was as good as the dinner at other hotels.
Everything was perfect: the location was a minute's walk from Yubatake, the food was delicious, the hot spring water was free-flowing, and the rooms were clean.
I have stayed at many inns throughout Japan, but I have not been able to find one where everything is perfect.
