Rooms, meals, baths, and access to Ryokan Matsumoto, a small family-style inn in Ginzan Onsen

About Ryokan Matsumoto

Ryokan Matsumoto is a small 10-room hot spring inn located near the center of Ginzan Onsen district.

Many of the buildings in Ginzan Onsen are reminiscent of Japan's Taisho Era, but Ryokan Matsumoto does not have such a classic feel and is an inn with a Showa Era feel.

The ryokan is a five-story reinforced concrete building, not a wooden structure, and is equipped with an elevator so that guests do not need to use the stairs to get to their rooms.

The inn is family-run, so you will receive very homey service.

All 10 rooms are Japanese-style rooms with tatami mats, and there are no rooms with beds.

There are no baths in the rooms, so you will have to use the large public baths for men and women separately.

Some rooms do not have toilets, so those who do not have toilets will use the public toilets on each floor.

There are no private baths, only large public baths.

Dinner is served at a table in your room, and breakfast is served in the restaurant.

The food is reputed to be delicious.

We recommend this inn for those who want to stay at a Japanese-style inn with a homelike atmosphere and reasonable prices in Ginzan Onsen.

About access

Ryokan Matsumoto offers a shuttle service to JR Oishida Station by reservation only, so it is recommended to use this service.

For those who rent a car, parking lot No. 1 is located right next to the Shiragin Bridge at the entrance to Ginzan Onsen Hot Spring Resort.

If you can park your car here, the inn is just a short distance away.

If the first parking lot is full, park in the second parking lot near the Ginzan Onsen bus stop.

It is about 270 meters from the second parking lot to the inn, so it takes only 5 minutes to get there.

Amenities include yukata, tanzen, bath towels, hand towels, slippers, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a hot water pot.

About the Baths

Ryokan Matsumoto in Ginzan Onsen has two large baths, one for men and one for women, which change daily.

The baths are not large, as this is not a large ryokan, and are only large enough for about three people.

The baths are indoor only.

word-of-mouth evaluation

The Ginzan Onsen, which I had longed to visit, was even more wonderful than I had imagined.
The scenery was picturesque no matter where you took pictures, and the night view was nostalgic and wonderful, and it was very pleasant to go for a walk in yukata after taking a bath.
Dinner was served in the room and was a colorful feast including Japanese beef, fish, and rice cooked with wild vegetables.
The elevator was also convenient, although I did not recognize it from the outside.
The beer vending machine on the first floor was not available, but there were alcoholic beverages in the refrigerator in the room, and the system was to pay only for what you drank.
The bath is small, so you have to take baths at different times.
It is a small ryokan in Ginzan Onsen, but it is well cleaned and we were fully satisfied.

Contributor B
Cars were busy on consecutive holidays, but only guests could get to the ryokan parking lot.
From the parking lot to the ryokan is close.
The hospitality was good and the view at night, which is unique to Ginzan Onsen, was great.
The bath was a little small but very warm.
The food was also a delicious menu.
